Spring 2018
We recently held our Annual General Meeting where we reported on the past year and reviewed our plans for the year ahead. Thank you to all who attended. If you were unable to make it you can contact our office to obtain the reports, ask questions and give feedback.

The programs have been busy in play! The children in our Out of School Care Program have been conducting science experiments and exploring the concepts of Cause & Effect. Some of their experiments have included an exploration of magnetic energy and using the chemical reaction between a base and an acid to create art!

At our Multiplex Day Care Site has had many interest topics on the go as the children follow the construction that is happening around our building. They have moved earth with play trucks and machines, painted and constructed with wood and enjoyed the demolition! They have been creating 'store front' dramatic play spaces exchanging play money and exploring different shops such as a beauty parlour/barber, consignment store and grocer.

The infants and toddlers at our University Day Care Site have been having a blast riding in make-shift vehicles around the room, pushing objects and creating sound effects. They explored thier 5 senses with sensory bottles and played with the concepts of wet/dry, heavy/light and sound.
This Spring we will be making some much needed motifications to our outdoor play spaces at our Day Care sites. Our Program Director has been busy researching a Reggio-based outdoor play environment. Moving from the traditional playground equipment to a more holistic, natural and multidimensional environment will align us with the principals set out in Alberta's Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum Framework: Play, Participation and Possibilities. Contact our office to learn more about our playground improvement plans and the steps we are taking to implement the Curriculum Framework.

Our Board of Directors has two vacancies for directors open to parents, guardians and interested community members. This is a minimal commitment with approximately 10 meetings per year lasting one hour each. Our Society relies on a Board in order to thrive and cannot function without these vital executive members. If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming a board member or just wants to learn more about it please contact our office for the next meeting date and time.
